Blockchain technology was first implemented in 2008, and over the past 12 years the industry has seen more than 2,000 different implementations. Researchers around the world are looking at the technology either from an application perspective or by improving
its individual components. This fragmented approach leads the industry to the problem of lack of the big picture, which leads to the inability to determine the real value of a new development and, as a consequence, to slow down the development of the technology.
